Here is a collection of videos for the Vancouver International Film Festival which took place from October 1 to 16, 2009. They ordered 3 Theatre spots and they are just really amusing, and put into question our open-mind, as the theme of the festival this year was : An open-mind is advised.  The spot above is called « Sexuality » [NSFW]. The other below is called « Disturbing ». And the last one, which is really fun, is called « Subtitles ». I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did. They are only 1:30 long.

Ugly Dance World Cup 2009 !

Dancing nicely is so easy that it makes sense to organise the 1st Ugly Dance World Cup. It took place in Hamburg in Germany earlier this month. On the video above, you can watch the winers, they are all very very good. Look at the dude in the black shirt at 0:50, or the one with the stripes all the way through the video. If you watch them individually, it is even funnier.

There were some French men too.

Oui, il y avait des français dans cette compét’, et ils n’étaient pas mauvais, mais ils n’ont même pas réussi à se hisser dans le top 10. Voici leur vidéo :

Now, those who had the third place were really good too. Here is their video. I really like the tall guy with the pink pantyhose. I really think that without him they wouldn’t have been in the top 10 ranking.

And now, the contestants from Afghanistan ! They are fun ! And I don’t know what is the music they found, but this song is great. I’ve never heard such a way of singing. They ended on the 8th place !

There is something Monty Pythonesque in their way of dancing ugly…

C’est trop facile de danser bien, c’est pourquoi il fallait inventer la coupe du monde de la danse moche.

"Sing Along" by Múm

Múm is an excellent Icelandic band I’ve heard by chance somewhere on the Internet. Their video is great, light, and happy, though I don’t understand what they do with the deer. They pull him back and forth through Iceland and treat him badly, but the deer doesn’t care and sing along with them. I really like the light in this video. It’s so warm.

All I know is that this song comes from their last album called Sing Along To Songs You Don’t Know. This is just a quick post to make you feel happy to have come back today.

Múm est un groupe islandais que je viens à peine de découvrir. Regardez le clip,  si le renne continue de chanter avec eux malgré les mauvais traitements qu’il subit, c’est que leur musique est vraiment bonne.

Mystery Google est étrange

Voici un site qui fait réagir la blogosphère. Mystery Google est un Google sur fond noir. Une lune éclaire le logo gris. On pourrait presque s’attendre à voir un loup hurler à la mort tant le design est kitsch. Quand on tape une recherche, on obtient un résultat farfelu en apparence. Pour « Webinapage », j’ai obtenu les réponses Google de « Yes I Am ».  Ceci n’est pas une défaillance du site. Comme il est écrit dans le titre HTML : « vous obtenez les résultats de la recherche de la personne qui vous précède. »

J’aime bien même si je pense qu’on s’en lasse vite. [Mystery Google]

"F-word" by Yoyoyo Acapulco

As their name suggest, Yoyoyo Acapulco is a band from… Norway. They are 4 and on their Myspace, we learn that some of them left the band some time ago and some new members have joined since.

The boss of the band is Arne Martin Barlund and actually the members are : Karen Torstensen, Ola Bruvik, Anja Hellstrand ——-former : Kenneth Melbø, Hans Sigbjørn Karlsen & Ruth Mari Barlund

The singer has a nice and fat moustache. He also plays the Ukulele and it gives lightness to their music. In their video, they spend an evening in a cabin in the moutain after having spend the day to sledge. They eat saussage in pancakes, they play Scrabbles, they watch TV and listen to some music before going to bed. A simple life, small pleasures, good music. What’s more ?

Le Lip Dub, c'est du playback en mieux

Je n’avais pas encore parlé de Lip Dub, un phénomène absolument génial s’il est bien fait et plutôt horrible s’il est mal fait.

Selon Wikipedia :

Un lip dub est une vidéo réalisée en plan-séquence et en playback par des collaborateurs au sein du milieu professionnel et généralement destinée à une diffusion sur Internet ou autres réseaux.

Cidessus un LipDub réalisé durant la semaine d’initiations avec 172 étudiants en communication de l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Tourné le 10 septembre 2009 en 2h15min. On peut y voir un groupe de rock, des jolies filles, de l’alcool, des grosses lunettes etc… mais on écoute une chanson pourrie. Le résultat est tout de même impressionnant.

This LipDub has been produced during the integration week of UQAM (Quebec, Canada) with 172 communication students. Made on September 10th 2009 in 2h15min.

Ci-dessous un autre Lip Dub sur Thriller de Michaël Jackson (version longue) réalisé à l’IUT SRC de Rouen. Là, ils n’y sont pas allés de mains mortes, des zombies, du surf dans les escaliers, un grand noir en maillot de bain, des bourgeois coincés, des geeks, un prof qui se fait siffler, etc…

Et voici un exemple de lip dub raté, voir catastrophique. D’abord, ils commencent mal en n’étant pas synchro avec les paroles, puis il ne s’agit même pas d’un plan séquence. Ensuite le message :
Lip dub de revendication territoriale en faveur de la liaison autoroutière entre Toulouse et Castres-Mazamet ou les voix du Tarn sud
Qu’ils prennent le train…
