How much is your life worth ? I’m not asking how much you’d spend on it. But rather how far would you go to stay alive. When do you think it is better to kill yourself than stayin alive (Ouh Ouh Ouh) ? Where is that line that makes you a walking dead ? Why am I saying this ? I don’t know. But here is what the video is about :
An astonishing pas de deux from Lloyd Newson’s THE COST OF LIVING (2003), performed by DV8 Physical Theater. When the body is not more linked to our mind and seems to be an useless weight to manage…
I’ve watched that video on the facebook page of Valérie (thanks). This is just strange, odd, sensual & beautiful. It reminds me some words spoken by Blixa Bargeld in a song called Beauty on the album Silence is Sexy by Einstürzende Neubauten , and he says something like this :
« Beauty remains in the impossibilities of the body »
Here are the lyrics :
Beauty
you see half the moon, its crecent, and one of the planets,
maybe saturn, maybe jupiter, in the early night sky over
berlin, from the windows of a taxicab, near potsdamer platz.
you think: beauty
no, this is not beauty, maybe not, maybe, this is the rest of it,
maybe not, maybe, the rest of beauty, maybe not, maybe, what remains of beauty, maybe not, maybe, what is visible, certainly, uncertain.
your arms would not be able to stretch as far as necessary to form an adequate gesture for beauty
(you know that, don’t you?)
so beauty remains in the impossibilities of the body.

L’enchaînement des deux videos est très réussi.
Merci pour ce plaisir…
Merci pour ces compliments…
