Called “The Wilderness Downtown”, the project was created by writer/director Chris Milk with the band Arcade Fire and Google. Building this project on the web and for the browser allowed us to craft an experience that is not only personalized, but also deeply personal for each viewer. “The Wilderness Downtown” takes you down memory lane through the streets you grew up in. It’s set to Arcade Fire’s new song “We Used to Wait” off their newly released album The Suburbs. The project was built with the latest web technologies and includes HTML5, Google Maps, an integrated drawing tool, as well as multiple browser windows that move around the screen.

This site was designed with Google Chrome in mind and is unable to render properly with another browser. It works with Firefox, but it is strange. [Wilderness Downtown]

Voici un projet mené par Google pour mettre en valeur leurs dernières technologies : Google Chrome, HTML5, Google Maps, un outil de dessin. Le résultat est un des plus impressionnants que j’ai vu depuis longtemps. Pour y arriver, ils ont demandé au groupe Arcade Fire et  Chris Milk  de réaliser ce projet unique pour l’instant. Vous verrez des fenêtres s’ouvrir et se fermer, vous allez pouvoir dessiner  directement sur certaines d’entre-elles, vous regardez en même temps un clip malin où les scènes se mêlent avec des images de votre ville natale. Je ne vous en dis pas plus, allez faire un tour sur leur site. Seule remarque : il est conseillé d’utiliser Chrome pour profiter au mieux de cette expérience. (Si vous n’avez pas envie, ça marche aussi avec Firefox, mais c’est moins bien).[Wilderness Downtown]
