Official video for ‘We Got More’, taken from the album ‘Eskmo’ on Ninja Tune. I chose to introduce you to this music video mainly because it was directed by Cyriak.

Here is the last music video by OK GO. The song name is « Last Leaf ». It is comprised entirely of photographs…15 still shots for every second of video. Oh yes, and toast. Lots and lots of toast. 2.430 toast to be precise.

Paroles de / Lyrics of Last Leaf, by OK Go

If you should be the last autumn leaf hanging from the tree
I’ll still be here waiting on the breeze to bring you down to me
And if it takes forever, forever it’ll be

And if it takes forever, forever it’ll be

And if you should be the last seed in spring to venture forth a leaf
I’ll still be here waiting on the rain to warm your heart for me
And if it takes forever, forever it’ll be
And if it takes forever, forever it’ll be

It was directed by OK Go, Nadeem Mazen and Ali Mohammad of Serious Business Design.

Geoff Mcfetridge from Champion Graphics developed the hand-drawn animation.

Produced by Shirley Moyers.

During the Cold War at the beginning of the Space Age, the Soviet Union was rumored to have two space programs – one a public program, the other a secret ‘black’ one, in which dangerous and sometimes downright suicidal missions were attempted. Cosmonauts would be shot into orbit without the means or resources to get them home, stranded in an expanding orbit around earth, slowly pulling away, frozen in space for eternity.

I wanted to create a kind of formal and slightly nostalgic vibe. At the same time, I wanted it to feel untethered to an exact era — not specifically in the past. I shot in Portland Oregon and a little in Romania and I was really inspired by Russian cinema and Communist propaganda posters. It was an ambitious idea and I’m really stoked that Deschutes Brewery and North were able to help support the production of this video for Wolf Parade’s great song, Yulia. – Scott Coffey

Lyrics of / Paroles de : Yulia, by Wolf Parade

Diamonds in the face of night time
Watch them as they float along
I was up there floating with them
And you know that I am gone
The radio sings a patriot’s song, it’s the devil that you know

We were standing on the platform
The favorite sons of history
While you’re back in Prostronaya
Writing in your diary
They flip on switch at mission control and I’m never coming home

Oh! I woke up from a fever dream
Oh! Of floating in the salty sea
I’m stranded up here floating along
and my heart beats slow and I hope they
Bring my body back

So when they turn the cameras on you
Baby please don’t speak of me
Point up to the dark above you
As they edit me from history
I’m 20 million miles from a comfortable home
And space is very cold

There’s nothing out here nothing out here nothing out
nothing out here nothing out here there’s nothing out here
nothing nothing out here nothing out here nothing nothing out

Single written and released in 1973. Also on the album « Ghost Writer » (A & M Records, 1977) and reissued on the album « I’m Alive » (Universal International, 2006).

Here is what Garland says about this song :

Wild in the Streets is my pride and joy. I consider it my « first » Rock ‘n’ Roll record, written and released in 1973, and recorded with Dr. John and his band, with Alan Freedman, Michael Brecker, David Sanborn, David Spinozza, David Peel, Produced by Roy Cicala…………..
All the Best,

Paroles/Lyrics :

In the heat of the summer
Better call up the plumber
And turn on the street pump
To cool me off
With your newspaper writers
And your big crime fighters
You still need a drugstore
To cure my cough

Running wild in the streets

We got a gang called Shady
And a midnight lady
And two transvestites
To beat the band
You better not touch us
You best believe us
Your teenage Johnny’s
Gonna be a man

Runnin’ wild in the streets

Mrs. America
Tell me how is your favorite son
Do you really care
What he has done

Runnin’ wild in the streets

And a flowchart so you can keep up with the lyrics:

This is not an official video, it is a diploma project by Joerg Barton and the result is amazing. His use of black and white videos modified to look like a hand-drawn animation works just fine. Soko is a French singer (she’s also an actress) and though she made only one LP, her song « I’ll Kill here » was a success.

Here is the official music video :

« I’ll kill her » by Soko Lyrics / les paroles :

So, of course, you were supposed to call me tonight.
You were supposed to call me tonight.
We would have gone to the cinema
And after to the restaurant,
The one you like in your street.
We would have slept together,
Have a nice breakfast together.
And then a walk in a park together.
How beautiful is that!
You would have said « I love you »
In the cutest place on earth
Where some lullabies are dancing
With the fairies.
I would have waited like a week or two but you never try to reach me, no, you never call me back.

You were dating that bleached blond girl
If I find her I swear, I swear

I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future,
She broke my dream,
I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future
When she took you away

I would have met your friends
We would have had a drink or two.
They would have liked me,
‘Cause sometimes I’m funny!
I would have met your dad,
I would have met your mum.
She would have said ‘please, can you make some beautiful babies?’
So we could have had a boy called Tom, and a girl called Susan
Born in Japan !

I thought it was a love story,
But you don’t want to get involved.
I thought it was a love story,
But you’re not ready for that.
Me neither,

I’ll Kill Her,
She stole my future,
She broke my dream,
I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future
When she took you away

She’s a bitch, you know
All she’s got is blondness
Not even tenderness
Yeah, she’s clever… less.

She’ll dump your ass for a model called Brandon
He would pay for a beautiful surgery cause he’s full of money

I would have waited like a week or two but you never try to reach me, no, you never call me back.

You were dating that bleached blond girl
if I find her, I swear, you know I swear

I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future,
She broke my dream,
I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.

She stole my future
When she took you away

I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future,
She broke my dream,
I’ll Kill Her, I’ll Kill Her.
She stole my future
When she took you away

Man I told you, You know
If I find her I’ll really…
I’ll Kill Her for real !
That’s for sure
You have to know, I mean er…
You know I can do it
Man… I’ll Kill Her !

It’s Okay,
I don’t even cry
all I think about is a memory
in that dream when you kissed my arm
as I look away, don’t hear
what I say

That maybe when I die
I get to be a car
driving in the night
lighting up the dark.
something in your voice
sparks a little hope
I’ll wait up for that noise
your voice becomes my home

Long way round, don’t care what I find
A little thunder’s good, I thought maybe you would
but it’s okay, we all feel left out
sometimes growing up, it can get you down.

I give you some thing that no one’s gonna to give you
my sleepin’ skin and my heart deep down in you
I’ll never tell you, but you’re my little scar
Goodbyes are hard and they’re hard and they’re hard

Maybe when I die
I get to be a car
driving in the night
Lighting up the dark
Something in your voice,
sparks a little hope
Ill wait up for that noise
your voice become my home

Autumn Sory is a song from Firekites’ album ‘The Bowery’. This music video, co-directed by Yanni Kronenberg and Lucinda Schreiber, use the same principles as the stop-motion videos made by BLU. I like that kind of video because all you need is some chalk, a blackboard and a lot of talents. Ok, you also need a lot of time ahead. It took them 6 month to make that video. [Firekites]

Tell me all you know,
what was that old story that you told?
Yea, i know it’s late, but these times wont wait.

We hear the bells on every hour.

Says she likes to write,
and she likes to walk by the park.
Yea this house is gold, but it has no light.
Dealers on our street,
black cats in our yard, we don’t mind.
Feelings lived here once, before our time.

we hear the bells on every hour
I will always love you

We hear the bells on every hour
I will always love you

Says she loves to dance,

We don’t want these days to ever end,
to ever end,
to ever end,
to ever end.
